Pod style homes will accommodate people living with a disability, allowing them independence whilst living within a supported community. Up to 20 pod style homes will be constructed on the site with options of 1 or 2-bedroom pods available. Each Pod style home will be equipped with master bedroom, en-suite facilities, kitchenette, living and dining. All pods will be built to improved livability specifications.
Our homes will be connected by walkways incorporated with open common space to encourage socialisation and recreation with all community members.
There will be 2 common hubs offering large open communal facilities where residents can gather, cook, socialise and learn new skills. Residents will have the option of cooking and dining with friends in the common hub for dinner or residing to their pod style home.
The broader community will be welcomed into the common areas of the hub home for community events, workshops, volunteering and assisting our community with day to day tasks. Sharing knowledge and skills is vital to the success of a well-connected community.
These hubs will also offer respite accommodation for up to 8 temporary residents. All private rooms will offer ensuite facilities with 24-hour staff support.
Residents will engage within the broader community through the micro businesses, market stalls, local community events, and social and community groups
Building Life skills will be offering architect-designed modular housing complying to SDA standards. Responding to the beautiful nature of the Perth hills and Kalamunda’s architectural heritage, the project will be an example of sustainable, socially responsible, and community-focused design.
On completion of the project build, BLS community will be financially viable to deliver a first-class community to its residents.
Wherever possible BLS will endeavour to live as environmentally friendly as possible, a farm to table approach where fresh produce will be grown and harvested on site to promote healthy living and wellbeing.
We will strive for our concept to offer minimal impact on the environment working with renewable energy, fire resilience products, low carbon, low toxicity materials and a water sensitive design.
Building Life Skills Container For Change will continue to operate, offering a local drop point for the broader community to be able to recycle more conveniently
